New in Britain: Vampire Facelift

Almost all women want to undergo a facelift for that ageless look, but not all are comfortable with the idea of certain anti aging service such as Botox and plastic surgery – Not until this so-called “Vampire facelift,” which stimulates collagen, irons out wrinkles and rejuvenates your skin by injecting your very own blood back to your face.

The treatment is scientifically called Platelet Rich Plasma, or PRP, which is done by taking a blood sample from the patients’ arm and processing it though a machine that separates the platelets, which would later on be injected directly to one’s face – hence, its street name, Vampire Facelift. Platelets, as we all know, are tiny parts of cells circulating in the blood. They are rich with hormones and proteins; all responsible for blood clot and healing when we get a cut or bruise. In pure concentrations, these blood platelets cause the skin to repair itself. Vampire facelift does not just even out skin wrinkles, but also gives a rosy glowing effect to the cheeks.

This new anti aging program, which was just launched early this year, is now being offered by clinics in Britain. It costs an average of £130 per session and could cost up to £1,500 for a complete series. The treatment is said to be best for skin that’s been damaged by smoking or intense sun exposure. Experts say that platelet transfusions have long been used in reconstructive surgery, but it is only through this Vampire Facelift that they are used as a cosmetic treatment.
